Lovable vs Bolt vs Replit vs Base44 for business apps

By Jason Santiago, founder · Updated 2026-10-17 · 9 min read

The short answer

Lovable, Bolt, Replit and Base44 all turn plain-language prompts into working apps, and all four are fast. For business apps, the differences are in the meter and the controls: Lovable prices by shared credits with unlimited members, Bolt charges $30 per member with tokens that are not shared, Replit Pro covers up to 15 builders on one $100 plan, and Base44 sells message credits from $16 a month billed annually. SSO and audit logs sit on Enterprise at Bolt and Replit, and audit logs sit on Enterprise at Lovable. Teams without developers who want onboarding, roles and builds-based pricing are better served by a business platform like FORGE.

Lovable, Bolt, Replit and Base44 are the four names that come up most when someone asks how to build an app by describing it. They all do the headline trick well: type what you want, and a working app appears in minutes. That is why so many business owners try them first.

The harder question is what happens next, when the app moves from a weekend experiment to something your team relies on. Who pays as more people join? What does the meter count when the AI has a bad afternoon? Which plan includes the controls a business needs? And what does each company's security record say about how it handles problems? This guide answers those questions using each vendor's pricing page and documentation as listed in October 2026, plus published, attributed incident reports.

What the four have in common

All four are prompt-first builders. You describe an app in plain words, the AI writes the code, and you refine it by chatting. People often call this vibe coding: building mostly by describing and reacting, rather than by writing code yourself.

They also share a pricing pattern. Each meters AI work in some unit, whether credits, tokens or messages, and every attempt the AI makes uses some of it. That includes attempts where the AI fixes a mistake it made a moment earlier. None of the four lists a per-user charge for the people who only use the apps you build, which is a real advantage over per-person platforms. And all four keep their strongest admin controls, such as audit logs, on higher tiers.

Where they differ is in how they count, how teams share the allowance, and what each tier includes.

Lovable

Built for: turning a prompt into a polished full web app, with hosting and a database included.

Pricing as listed in Lovable's plan documentation in October 2026: Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 credits ($21 billed annually). Business starts at $50 a month for 100 credits ($42 billed annually). Enterprise is priced through sales.

What the meter counts: credits. According to Lovable's pricing page, one credit balance pays for building, for hosting on Lovable Cloud, and for AI features inside your apps. That simplicity is convenient, and it also means a busy app and a busy builder draw on the same pool.

Team model: Lovable does not charge per seat. Its pricing page says workspaces support unlimited members and plans are priced by the credits they include.

Admin and security tiers: SSO (one company login for every tool) starts at Business. SCIM (automatic adding and removing of people from your company directory) and audit logs (a record of every change and who made it) are Enterprise only.

Security record: Lovable has the most documented record of the four. Researcher Matt Palmer found 170 of 1,645 scanned Lovable apps, with 303 endpoints, exposed through missing row-level security in March 2025. Row-level security is the set of database rules that decides which rows each person can read. The issue became CVE-2025-48757, scored 9.3 out of 10 and published May 2025. Lovable disputes the CVE, saying each customer is responsible for protecting their app's data.

In February 2026, The Register reported that researcher Taimur Khan found 16 vulnerabilities, 6 of them critical, in one Lovable-hosted app, exposing 18,697 user records. Then Lovable says a February 2026 regression exposed public projects' chat history and source code from February 3 to April 20, 2026. Lovable says HackerOne reports from February 22 were closed without escalation, and that it shipped a fix within two hours of the public report. The Register reported that Lovable first said "We did not suffer a data breach" before apologizing. Finally, an August 2026 scan by reeve.page of 18,554 Lovable apps found that 57% of 3,553 checkable databases had tables readable without logging in.

Bolt

Built for: fast app building from prompts, right in the browser.

Pricing as listed on Bolt's pricing page in October 2026: Pro is $25 a month starting at 10 million tokens. Teams is $30 per member per month. Enterprise is custom.

What the meter counts: tokens, small chunks of text the AI reads and writes. Larger projects tend to use more per message because the AI has more to read.

Team model: per member. Bolt's pricing page says tokens are not shared between members on Teams, so one heavy builder cannot borrow from a light one.

Admin and security tiers: SSO, audit logs and data retention policies are Enterprise features.

Reputation: Bolt's Trustpilot TrustScore was 1.6 out of 5 across 204 reviews as of October 17, 2026. Trustpilot reviews are individual, unverified opinions, so read them as one signal among several.

Replit

Built for: a full building environment in the browser, with an AI agent that can plan, write and run apps.

Pricing as listed on Replit's pricing page in October 2026: Core is $20 a month ($18 billed annually). Pro is $100 a month ($90 billed annually). Enterprise is custom.

What the meter counts: usage credits that cover the agent and other platform work.

Team model: Replit's Pro documentation says there are no per-user fees and up to 15 builders can work on one plan. For a small team, that is one of the simplest arrangements in the category.

Admin and security tiers: SSO, SCIM and audit logs are Enterprise only.

Security record: In July 2025, as Fortune reported, a Replit agent wiped SaaStr's live database, holding data on more than 1,200 executives and over 1,190 companies, during a code freeze. Replit's CEO responded by promising automatic separation between development and live databases and a planning-only mode. The lesson applies to every AI builder: an AI agent should never be able to touch the live data your business runs on without a safe boundary in between.

Base44

Built for: building apps through conversation, with a low entry price.

Pricing as listed on Base44's pricing page in October 2026: billed annually, Starter is $16 a month, Builder $40, Pro $80 and Elite $160, with 100 to 1,200 message credits depending on the plan.

What the meter counts: message credits for AI work.

Security record: In July 2025, Wiz found a Base44 flaw that let anyone with a public app ID register on private apps, bypassing SSO. Wiz reported that the fix landed in under 24 hours and that there was no evidence of exploitation. A fast fix is a good sign. The flaw is still a reminder that "private" has to be enforced by the platform, not assumed.

A worked example: a five-person operations team

Here is an example to make the numbers concrete. Picture a five-person operations team. Two people want to build: a dispatcher and an office manager. Everyone will use the tools. They want three tools in the first month: a job board, a parts request form and a daily report.

  • Bolt Teams charges per member, so two builders cost $60 a month, each with a separate token allowance. The team's three users pay nothing extra because no per-user charge is listed.
  • Replit Pro is $100 a month and covers both builders on one plan, with room for up to 15.
  • Lovable Business starts at $50 a month for 100 credits, shared across the workspace with unlimited members. Hosting and in-app AI draw on the same balance.
  • Base44 Builder is $40 a month billed annually.

The prices look close. What the table cannot tell you is how far each allowance goes, because that depends on how many attempts the AI needs. That is the core budgeting problem with metered building: two teams on the same plan can have very different months.

The question behind every comparison: who checks the work?

Prompt-first builders produce working software fast, and they make it easy to publish. The documented incidents above mostly share one root: an app reached people it should not have reached, because an access rule was missing or wrong and nobody on the team knew to look. RedAccess reported in May 2026 that it reviewed about 380,000 vibe-coded assets; about 5,000 were built for corporate purposes, and 40% of those exposed sensitive data.

Developers themselves are careful with AI output. In the Stack Overflow 2026 survey of 14,304 respondents, 48% said they trust AI output only when they can easily verify it, and only 6.6% trust it for important work decisions. If professional developers want to verify, a business whose builders are dispatchers and office managers needs the platform to do the verifying for them.

How to choose between them: a checklist

  1. Count your builders. One builder favors a solo plan. Several favor Lovable's unlimited members or Replit Pro's 15 builders.
  2. Decide whether you want shared or separate allowances. Shared pools reward flexibility; separate allowances, as on Bolt Teams, protect each builder from the others.
  3. Price the tier with the controls you need. If you need audit logs, at all three of Lovable, Bolt and Replit that means Enterprise.
  4. Ask whether failed attempts count. On metered plans, they usually do.
  5. Separate building from running. On Lovable, hosting and in-app AI use the same credits as building. Plan for a busy month.
  6. Check what "private" means. Ask how the platform keeps an app away from people outside your company, and test it.
  7. Read the incident history and the response. Look at how quickly each issue was fixed and whether the vendor took responsibility.
  8. Ask who will fix it when it is almost right. If the answer is "your team", make sure someone on your team can.

How FORGE handles it

FORGE is built for the business case these four tools leave to you. Your people describe the work in plain words. A panel of top AI models plans each tool, a dedicated AI crew builds it, and every piece is checked for quality and security before it is saved. The tool is checked at every step, so your team gets something that works, not something almost right. Most teams have their first real tool the same day, on web, mobile or desktop.

Every app lives inside your company. Access is invite-only, with owner, admin, builder and app user roles, and FORGE keeps a complete record of who did what. Those controls are part of every FORGE account from the start.

Pricing is by the build, so it is easy to forecast. Each person who builds is $49 a seat a month with 3 builds included. A change is a small fraction of a build and only counts when something changes. Packs of 10 extra builds cost $150, from one company pool or per seat. App users are free, a build FORGE fails is free, owners get alerts at 80 and 100 percent, and nothing ever bills by itself. In the five-person example above, the two builders cost $98 a month with 6 builds, and the whole team uses every tool free.

Our team also onboards yours, starting with a workflow workshop that turns the work costing you the most time into your first tool. Read how it works, see pricing, or talk to us.

Questions people ask

Which is best for business apps: Lovable, Bolt, Replit or Base44?

It depends on who builds and how you want to pay. Lovable suits teams that want one shared credit pool with unlimited members. Replit Pro suits a group of up to 15 builders on one plan. Bolt suits individuals who want their own token allowance. Base44 suits people who want low entry prices. For internal business tools, check the tier that includes SSO, roles and audit logs before deciding.

Do these tools charge for people who use the apps?

None of the four lists a per-user charge for people who use the apps on its pricing page as of October 2026. Hosting and in-app AI can still draw on your credits or usage, so heavy use can raise the bill even without a per-user fee.

Which of them includes audit logs?

According to their pricing pages in October 2026, audit logs are Enterprise features at Lovable, Bolt and Replit. Lovable lists SSO from its Business plan.

Have these platforms had security incidents?

Yes, and they are documented. Researchers found exposed Lovable apps in 2025 and 2026, a Replit agent wiped a live database in July 2025, and Wiz found a Base44 sign-in flaw in July 2025 that was fixed in under 24 hours. Details and sources are in this guide.

Do I need to know how to code to use them?

You can start without code, and many people do. When the AI gets something almost right, someone usually has to understand the problem to fix it, so teams without that skill should look for a platform that checks the work for them.

How is FORGE different?

FORGE prices by finished builds instead of tokens: $49 a seat a month for each person who builds, with 3 builds included. App users are free, failed builds are free, every app stays inside your company with roles and a full record, and our team onboards yours.
