Lovable alternatives for businesses that need governance

By Jason Santiago, founder · Updated 2026-10-17 · 9 min read

The short answer

Lovable is fast and does not charge per seat, but its audit logs and SCIM are Enterprise only, its credits cover building, hosting and in-app AI from one balance, and Lovable says protecting each app's data is the customer's job. Businesses that need governance should compare alternatives on private-by-default apps, roles, a record of every change, checks before anything goes live, and pricing they can cap. Bolt, v0 and Replit keep similar controls on Enterprise; Retool, Power Apps and AppSheet charge for app users. FORGE includes roles, a full record and security checks for every team, with free app users.

Lovable made building an app by describing it feel normal. For a founder testing an idea or a marketer launching a landing page, that is exactly the point. But when a business starts using it for internal tools, a different set of questions shows up fast. Who approved this app? Who can see the customer list inside it? Who changed the approval rule last Tuesday? What will next month's bill be?

Those are governance questions, and they are the reason businesses go looking for Lovable alternatives. This guide is a fair look at what Lovable offers, where businesses tend to need more, and how the main alternatives compare, using vendor pricing pages and documentation as listed in October 2026 and published, attributed incident reports.

What Lovable does well

It is worth starting with the strengths, because they are real.

  • Speed. A prompt becomes a full web app with a database and hosting in minutes.
  • No per-seat pricing. According to Lovable's pricing page, workspaces support unlimited members, and plans are priced by the credits they include, not by seats. Adding a colleague does not add a bill.
  • One balance. Lovable's pricing page says one credit balance pays for building, hosting on Lovable Cloud, and AI features inside your apps.
  • Accessible pricing. Lovable's plan documentation lists Pro from $25 a month for 100 credits ($21 billed annually) and Business from $50 a month for 100 credits ($42 billed annually).
  • SSO on Business. Single sign-on, one company login for every tool, starts at the Business plan.

For many builders, that is plenty. The gaps appear when the company itself, not one builder, has to answer for the apps.

Why businesses look for alternatives

Key controls sit on Enterprise

Lovable's plan documentation lists SCIM and audit logs as Enterprise only. SCIM is the standard that adds and removes people from your apps automatically when they join or leave your company directory. An audit log is the record of every change and who made it. Without them, offboarding is manual and "who changed this?" has no reliable answer, unless you move to an Enterprise contract.

Responsibility for app data sits with you

When researcher Matt Palmer found 170 of 1,645 scanned Lovable apps (303 endpoints) exposed through missing row-level security in March 2025, the issue became CVE-2025-48757, scored 9.3 out of 10 and published May 2025. Row-level security is the set of database rules deciding which rows each person can read. Lovable disputes the CVE, saying each customer is responsible for protecting their app's data, according to the NVD record. That is a clear statement of the model: the platform provides tools, and your team is responsible for using them correctly.

For a company whose builders are office managers and dispatchers, that division of responsibility is the heart of the matter. Later research shows why. In February 2026, researcher Taimur Khan found 16 vulnerabilities, 6 critical, in one Lovable-hosted app, exposing 18,697 user records, The Register reported. An August 2026 scan by reeve.page of 18,554 Lovable apps found that 57% of 3,553 checkable databases had tables readable without logging in.

The platform itself has had a lapse

Lovable says a February 2026 regression exposed public projects' chat history and source code from February 3 to April 20, 2026, and that it shipped a fix within two hours of the public report. It also says HackerOne reports from February 22 were closed without escalation. Lovable published its own account of what happened, which is to its credit. For a business, the lesson is to prefer platforms where apps are never public in the first place.

Building and running share one meter

Because credits pay for building, hosting and in-app AI from one balance, a busy month for an app and a busy month for a builder compete for the same pool. That can make spending harder to forecast as more of your team relies on the tools.

What governance actually requires

Before comparing alternatives, here is the short list a business should hold every platform to.

  • Private by default. Apps are reachable only by people in your company.
  • Invite-only access. Nobody joins without being invited by someone with the authority to do so.
  • Roles. At minimum, an owner, admins, people who build, and people who only use apps.
  • A full record. Every change, by whom, and when.
  • Checks before anything goes live. Security and quality checks the platform runs for you.
  • Spending controls. A cap, alerts before you reach it, and nothing billing by itself.
  • Clean offboarding. When someone leaves, their access ends and their apps keep working for everyone else.

The alternatives, grouped by type

Other prompt-first builders: Bolt, v0, Replit and Base44

These are the closest to Lovable in feel, and similar in where they keep governance.

  • Bolt lists Pro at $25 a month starting at 10 million tokens and Teams at $30 per member per month, with tokens not shared between members. SSO, audit logs and data retention policies are Enterprise features.
  • v0 lists Plus at $30 per user per month and Business at $100 per user per month with $30 of included monthly credits per user. SAML SSO and role-based access control are Enterprise only.
  • Replit lists Core at $20 a month ($18 annually) and Pro at $100 a month ($90 annually). SSO, SCIM and audit logs are Enterprise only. Its 2025 incident, when a Replit agent wiped SaaStr's live database during a code freeze, as Fortune reported, led Replit to promise separation between development and live databases.
  • Base44 lists annual pricing of $16, $40, $80 and $160 a month across four plans. In July 2025 Wiz found a flaw that let anyone with a public app ID register on private apps, bypassing SSO; Wiz reported it fixed in under 24 hours, with no evidence of exploitation.

None of the four lists a per-user charge for app users. Switching among them changes the meter more than the governance picture.

Internal tool platforms: Retool, Power Apps and AppSheet

These were built for internal tools from the start and offer more structured administration, with pricing tied to people.

  • Retool lists Business at $50 per builder and $15 per internal user a month billed annually ($65 and $18 monthly). Audit logs start at Business; SAML or OIDC SSO and SCIM are Enterprise only.
  • Power Apps lists Premium at $20.00 per user per month paid yearly, and the people who run the apps need a license too.
  • AppSheet lists $5, $10 or $20 per user per month, and every app user, including guests, needs a license. Okta, Active Directory and OIDC sign-in, plus governance policies, are Enterprise Plus only.

These fit companies with an IT lead who will own the platform. The trade-off is that every new app user adds cost, and building usually takes more technical skill than describing.

Builders on top of your data: Softr

Softr charges by app users: each plan caps who can log in, and extra app users are billed monthly on Pro and above. Pro is $99 a month billed yearly ($119 monthly) and Business is $329 a month billed yearly ($395 monthly). SSO, SCIM and audit logs are Enterprise only.

A business AI platform: FORGE

FORGE keeps the describe-it-and-get-it experience that makes Lovable appealing, and builds the governance in from day one. More on that below.

Questions to ask any Lovable alternative

  1. Are apps private by default, or public until someone changes a setting?
  2. Which plan includes audit logs, and what does that plan cost for our team?
  3. Who is responsible if an app built on your platform exposes our data? Get the answer in writing.
  4. What is checked before an app goes live, and does it run automatically?
  5. What does the meter count, and do failed attempts count?
  6. Can we set a hard cap and get alerts before we reach it?
  7. Do people who only use the apps cost anything?
  8. What happens to an app when the person who built it leaves?
  9. Who will help our team build the first real tool?

Moving off Lovable without losing a step

If your team already has apps on Lovable, plan the move like any other change. List each app, who uses it and what data it holds. Pick the one that matters most to daily work and rebuild it first on the new platform, using the old one as the specification. Run both side by side for a week so nobody loses work, then retire the old app and remove its data. Repeat in order of importance.

The urgency is real. Pax8's October 2026 survey of AI-engaged small and mid-size businesses found that 67% have built AI solutions now in regular use, and 35% found shadow AI, meaning tools adopted without approval, in the past six months. Apps that start as experiments become daily work quickly. Governance is easier to put in place before that happens than after.

How FORGE handles it

FORGE gives your team the same plain-words building that draws people to Lovable, with the governance a business needs included for every team. Your people describe the work. A panel of top AI models plans each tool, a dedicated AI crew builds it, and every piece is checked for quality and security before it is saved. The tool is checked at every step, so your builders never need to review an access rule themselves. Most teams have their first real tool the same day, on web, mobile or desktop.

Every app lives inside your company. Access is invite-only, with owner, admin, builder and app user roles, and FORGE keeps a complete record of who did what. When someone leaves, the owner removes them and the tools keep working for everyone else.

Spending is simple to govern. Each person who builds is $49 a seat a month with 3 builds included. A change is a small fraction of a build and only counts when something changes. Packs of 10 builds cost $150, from a company pool or per seat, and admins can cap pack use. Owners get alerts at 80 and 100 percent, and nothing ever bills by itself. App users are free and a build FORGE fails is free.

Our team onboards yours, starting with a workflow workshop, so the first tool you build is the one that saves the most time. See security, pricing, or talk to us.

Questions people ask

What is the best Lovable alternative for a business?

For a business without developers, the best alternative keeps every app inside the company, uses invite-only access with roles, records who changed what, checks apps for security before they go live, and prices by something you can cap. FORGE is built around those five points; Retool, Power Apps and AppSheet suit companies with an IT lead and per-person budgets.

Does Lovable have audit logs?

According to Lovable's plan documentation in October 2026, audit logs and SCIM are Enterprise only. SSO starts at the Business plan.

Is Lovable secure enough for business data?

Lovable provides security features, and it says each customer is responsible for protecting their app's data. Researchers have published several exposures involving Lovable-built apps. If your team cannot review access rules itself, choose a platform that enforces them for you.

Which Lovable alternatives charge for app users?

Retool, Power Apps and AppSheet list per-person charges for people who use the apps, and Softr bills extra app users monthly on Pro and above. Bolt, v0, Replit and Base44 list no per-user charge for app users.

What does governance mean for AI-built apps?

It means the company, not each builder, decides who can build, who can use each app, what data apps can reach, and how changes are recorded and reviewed. In practice: roles, single sign-on, an audit log, and checks before anything goes live.

How does FORGE price compared with Lovable?

Lovable prices by credits that cover building, hosting and in-app AI. FORGE is $49 a seat a month for each person who builds, with 3 builds included, packs of 10 builds for $150, free app users and free failed builds.
